Lochaber Sports Association is a Company Limited by Guarantee and with Charitable Status and is run by a Board of Directors.

  1. The Grants And Awards Committee is funded by the Highland Council and disburses Grants and Awards to applicants who are successful in fulfilling their criteria.

  1. The Youth Support Fund, is funded by the community (through Social Enterprise projects, fund-raising and donations) and gives out grants of up to £100 to local sporting youngsters.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of Lochaber Sports Association can be made at any time by downloading the relevant form from the LSA website www.lochabersportsassociation.org or by contacting the LSA Membership Secretary christinefalconer1@btinternet.com, however membership fees would normally become due on the 1st May.    Fees for the current year are £40 for Club Membership and £ 12.50 for Individual Membership .

We ask each club to nominate an LSA liaison officer who will:

  • Disseminate LSA information to club members
  • Bring relevant issues to the attention of the club committee
  • Raise club concerns with LSA
  • Share information via LSA that might help other clubs

FUNDING:

GRANTS AND AWARDS COMMITTEE

Application Forms can be downloaded as below, or can be requested from the Secretary christinefalconer1@btinternet.com . All applications should be made by hard copy and sent to the Secretary along with all the required enclosures as detailed on the application form.     The Committee will normally meet once a month to assess Applications.  Once an offer of grant has been issued the applicant has 3 months in which to claim the grant unless otherwise agreed.   The funds will only be released on production of Invoices/Receipts and a completed evaluation form.    Applicants should familiarise themselves with the Guidelines in awarding grants to avoid any unnecessary delay or disappointment.  In the case of Achieving Excellence Awards, the Committee may ask the applicant to attend a committee meeting to expand on his or her plans.  Additionally, the Committee asks that it be updated on progress as appropriate.

YOUTH SUPPORT FUND

Applicants can be up to 25 years old and either resident or a member of a club or school within Lochaber.  The Youth Support Fund seeks to help with kit, travel expenses or coaching fees.  The maximum grant available to any youngster within a 12 month period (from date of previous grant approval) is £100.

PLEASE PUBLICISE THIS FUND TO YOUR YOUNGER CLUB MEMBERS AND THEIR PARENTS!

Applications to the Youth Support Fund can be either be made by downloading a form as below and emailing, or there is a pull-out form in the Clubs Directory.   The form should be completed and e-mailed or posted by the applicant’s sponsor, coach or teacher.  The application is then considered by the YSF Committee and a decision reached (usually within 48 hours).   The applicant is then informed of the decision and, if successful, given an Approval Reference Number.   The applicant should then send a SAE along with any relevant receipts and quoting the Approval No. to the YSF.  A cheque is then sent out to the applicant.
